The Massey Theatre is thrilled to be presenting a series of musical residences in the safe aenvironment of the Plaskett Gallery. This will be an extension of the existing Gallery program, with groups booking 30-minute slots to see the gallery show and the performers. All artists in the program will return to participate in a showcase/pandemic reflection event on September 5th at 7:30pm in the MasseyTheatre
Our first musicians are classical music duo Krystal Morrison & Erin MacDonald.

Vancouver clarinetist Krystal Morrison serves as the second clarinet with the Vancouver Island Symphony, and is a graduate of McGill’s Schulich School of Music and the University of Ottawa. Holding Master’s degrees in both Performance and Musicology, Krystal’s teaching style blends practise and theory, both in the studio and the classroom. She began her musical career with the Canadian military, making her debut on Ottawa’s Parliament Hill as a musician in the daily changing of the guard ceremony. Since then she has had the opportunity to play for a wide variety of ensembles across North America and Europe. An enthusiastic teacher, Krystal has taught at music schools throughout Canada, from conservatories to Cadet Camps. Also a certified Alexander Technique teacher, Krystal has worked with musicians, actors and dancers to help them find ease in movement and bring new energy to their craft. Krystal teaches lessons on clarinet, saxophone and piano.
Violist Erin Macdonald enjoys an active freelance and teaching career in Vancouver, performing with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and other regional ensembles. A native of the Sunshine Coast, Erin recently returned to the West Coast after completing her Masters of Music at the University of Ottawa with Rennie Regehr and her Alexander Technique Teacher Certification with Brigitte Caron. While in Ottawa, Erin served as Senior String Director of OrKidstra, an El Sistema inspired program promoting music as a means to empower youth and create social change. Ms. Macdonald has been a member of the Ottawa and Gatineau Symphonies and had an active violin and viola studio with Ottawa Suzuki Strings.
Ms. Macdonald holds degrees from The Royal Conservatory of Music (Art. Dip), where she studied with Steven Dann, and the University of Victoria (B.Mus), where she studied with Joanna Hood and the Lafayette String Quartet.

To attend, please book a time in the gallery with your bubble to enjoy art and music while apart. Visits are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are 30 minutes long. A maximum of 10 people will be allowed at a time. Your party will be asked to state that you have assessed yourself for Covid 19 symptoms before entering. You will all be required to provide contact information for the purposes of contact tracing by the government if that is needed for any reason.
