REVEEN:The Next Generation

March 18, 2016 @ 7:30 pm

| $ 40$

He was known to millions simply as “Reveen”… But Ty Reveen has always just called him Dad. And now, this next-generation magician and hypnotist is following in his famous father’s footsteps… continuing the family tradition with a new “super-subconscious journey” into the marvels of the mind… Reveen: The Next Generation.

People of a certain age remember the original Peter Reveen – who entranced audiences worldwide for almost five decades with his high-speed memory games, lighthearted hypnotisms and mystical showmanship. The high-haired, tuxedo-clad magician and hypnotist sold out shows regularly throughout the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s.

The original Reveen retired several years ago when his failing memory and other health issues made the rigors of his stage show too difficult. But not before teaching his son everything he knows. Lessons that started a long, long time ago, to the delight of his now 53-year-old son and father of three who is delighted to bring Reveen: The Next Generation back to life.

Ty Reveen grew up with the sleight of hand and illusionary arts most children only see at birthday parties. His father pulled coins from his children’s ears, and taught them card tricks. He brought them onstage every chance he got. And Ty loved it.

“For some reason, I was the chosen one since I was a young boy,” says Ty.
“I was told at the age of five that I would one day take over his show. It was probably because I looked a lot like him, but also because I was passionate about what he was doing. I often helped him with his advertising and always wanted to be involved.

By the time Ty was 15, he and his three brothers were travelling the world and appearing onstage with their Dad on a regular basis.

“Overall it was a really cool experience” says ty. “But sometimes it got invasive in my private life. And there were times during my adolescence when I didn’t want to be the son of a famous person because I couldn’t escape from it.”

The good, he says, has been learning his craft from “the best of the best,” a self-made man who transcended many difficult hurdles and, through his struggles, continually encouraged his kids to always be the best that they can be.

Although Ty has inherited much of his father’s show business style, “I’m doing it my way,” he says of his show. But he stresses he’ll never waver from his father’s ethical philosophy or stoop to what he calls the degrading, sexual innuendo-filled shows of some of his competitors.

“We never, have and never will invite any person on our stage to be embarrassed or ridiculed in any way. I will never stoop down to low, exploitative tactics or any sensationalistic cheap shots in order to entertain our audience”.

“But entertained they’ll be”… he promises, noting that his show was developed and tested under the guiding hand and expertise of the master… his father. And, on September 22nd of 2011 during a special ceremony in Las Vegas, Reveen Sr. passed his tuxedo on to his son (Tyrone) to allow his legacy to live on. Ty was able to “audition” his new show for both his parents… and receive his father’s blessing before he passed away April 8th, 2013.

But, he says, “Even though I miss him, I know my Dad is with me every night on stage… encouraging me to be the best that I can be, as he always has throughout my entire life.”
