Artist Statement:
I couldn’t have imagined ten years ago that today I would be shooting with film once again.
Why use such an old technology? Because there’s something more real than real life about Black and White Film.
It is difficult to put your finger on, or express with words why that is.
Maybe it is just the grain or the enjoyable memories of watching old movies late at night when there is nothing else on .
I think it’s the “perfection of imperfection” that is inherent in any analog media type, or of things made by hand. They just feel more human.
What matters is that Film, to me at least, seems to dive deeper into the soul of a place, object or person. I would say that’s the very objective of photography.
Every photo in this exhibition was shot on various locations, New Westminster, Burnaby, Tofino and Qualicum Beach.
There’s a lot to see whiteout going very far!
The Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday 1 to 4pm, by appointment and during Massey Theatre performances
